Now it will come as no surprise that we are big fans of tweed here at Maude & Fox. Whilst we can be seen sporting this fabulous fabric all the time, you might see more people than usual wearing trendy tweed today because the 3rd April is also known as ‘Tweed Day’.
Some people believe Tweed Day actually celebrates an infamous American politician who was born on 3rd April 1823 and went by the name ‘Boss Tweed’. Tweed was elected to the New York State Senate in 1867 but ten years later was convicted for stealing between $25-$45 million from NYC taxpayers.
So, what do you think? Is Tweed Day named after the fabulous fabric or corrupt political player?
